A unique wetland oasis located in the heart of the semi-arid Jordanian eastern desert,Azraq is one of several beautiful nature reserves managed by the Royal Society for the Conservation of nature (RSCN). Its attractions include several natural and ancient built pools, a seasonally flooded marshland, and a large mudflat known as Qa’a Al-Azraq. Castle is another important attraction and one of Jordan’s best known historic desert castles. It was made famous during World War I, when T.E. Lawrence, bzetter known as Lawrence of Arabia, used the castle as his military base during the Arab Revolt against the Turks.
