Pella

Another one of the ten cities of the Decapolis, Pella (Tabaqat Fahl) is a favorite of archeologists. Although not as spectacular as Jerash, Pella has revealed evidence of life from the fourth century BC through the Bronze and Iron Ages up to medieval islamic times. Exceptionally rich in antiquities, Pella offers visitors the opportunity to see, among the many interesting archeological sites, the remains of a first century Odeod (theater), numphaeum (fountain), and church, two additional churches dating from the sixth century; and an early islamic residential quarter and small medieval mosque.
